ou begin by stepping onto a remote oil and gas wellsite. You enter through the site gate, read the H2S warning sign and condition flag, and meet the supervisor to receive your gas-tested work permit and briefing. You will need to identify hydrogen sulfide hazards, inspect and put on the required PPE, and bump-test a personal gas monitor before entry. You will also determine wind direction and select the correct upwind muster point. During the training, you respond to low and high H2S alarms by putting on an escape set and evacuating crosswind, then upwind. In a rescue situation, you must raise the alarm and call the trained standby and rescue team instead of attempting a rescue yourself.
